Nelson Community Services is seeking a Finance Manager. The incumbent provides overall leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations, ensuring sound financial management, accountability, compliance and long-term financial sustainability. Working closely with the Executive Director, Board/Treasurer, program leadership and Finance Assistant, the Finance Manager oversees budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow, audit requirements, government and funder reporting, internal controls and financial planning. The Finance Manager is a key member of the organization’s leadership team and provides the Executive Director and Board with timely, accurate financial information to support informed organizational decision-making a variety of accounting and bookkeeping services, producing relevant financial reports, maintaining various accounting records and files, and supervising other finance personnel. This position is for three days per week (21 hours) and starts immediately.

Qualifications:
- Professional accounting designation or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Significant experience in financial management, preferably within a non-profit, charitable or community-service organization.
- Strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, grant accounting and year-end processes.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and financial policies.
- Experience working with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential information

- This position is excluded from the bargaining unit due to its management/confidential responsibilities and is not subject to the collective agreement.
- Following successful completion of the three-month probationary period, the successful candidate will be eligible to participate in the organization’s benefits program and will accrue vacation and sick leave in accordance with agency policies.
- The wage is $43.27 per hour.
