Nelson Community Services is seeking a Finance Assistant to provide day-to-day financial and administrative support to the organization and Finance Manager. The position is responsible for accurate and timely processing of routine financial transactions, maintaining financial records, accounts payable and receivable, banking, payroll support and other administrative finance functions. The Finance Assistant plays an important role in ensuring that financial information is accurate, organized and readily available to support the organization’s financial operations and reporting requirements. This position is for two days per week (14 hours) and starts immediately.

Qualifications:
- Office Administration – Bookkeeping Certificate or post-secondary bookkeeping courses for non-profits or small business
- Minimum of one year recent related experience, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial administration experience.
- Experience with accounting software and spreadsheets.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet recurring deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Experience in a non-profit or charitable organization is an asset.
- Competent in the use of Sage 50 accounting software is an asset.
- Competency in Payworks payroll system an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to work collaboratively with others.

- This position is excluded from the bargaining unit due to its administrative/confidential responsibilities and is not subject to the collective agreement
- The wage is $33.00 per hour.
